THORNTON LEADS THREE-GOAL COMEBACK, CLIMBS ALL-TIME POINTS LIST

The Sharks faced deficits of 3-0 and 4-1, but Joe Thornton collected 1-2—3, including an assist on the overtime winner by Brent Burns (1-1—2), to rally San Jose to victory. In doing so, Thornton (389-1,021—1,410) leapfrogged Dale Hawerchuk (518-891—1,409) for sole possession of 19th place on the NHL’s all-time points list.

Thornton recorded his 107th career three-point game – and first since Feb. 29, 2016 vs. MTL (1-2—3) – and now sits four points from tying Doug Gilmour (450-964—1,414) for 18th place on the all-time points list.

KINGS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES

Ottawa tied the game with 8.5 seconds remaining in regulation, but Drew Doughty (1-1—2) scored 31 seconds into overtime to power Los Angeles to its seventh consecutive win and into sole possession of first place in the Western Conference (19-8-3, 41 points).

The Kings’ seven-game run is the longest win streak in the NHL this season and the longest by Los Angeles since an equal run from Oct. 16-31, 2015. Their last win streak of at least eight games came from Feb. 7-24, 2015 (8-0-0).

The Kings lead the NHL with 27 regular-season overtime goals since the 3-on-3 format was introduced in 2015-16, five more than the next-closest team (CGY: 22).

STAMKOS, NAMESTNIKOV POWER LEAGUE-LEADING LIGHTNING TO 20TH WIN

Steven Stamkos and Vladislav Namestnikov each had 1-2—3 as the League-leading Lightning scored at least five goals for the third consecutive game to become the first team to reach 20 wins this season (20-6-2, 42 points).

Stamkos boosted his totals to 12-29—41 this season (28 GP) to join teammate Nikita Kucherov (19-21—40 in 28 GP) as the only players in the NHL to reach the 40-point mark this season. Stamkos and Kucherov were the top two vote-getters in the Atlantic Division after one week of the 2018 NHL All-Star Fan Vote.
