Owen Sound Attack Totally Hammer Windsor Spitfires

Michael McNiven made 19 saves and six different players scored single goals as the Owen Sound Attack hammered the Windsor Spitfires 6-1 at the WFCU Centre Thursday night.

After Tyler Angle opened the scoring for the Spitfires (40-19-5-3) with his second career Ontario Hockey League goal early in the first period, the Attack (47-15-2-2) scored responded with two goals in the opening frame and four more in the second period to grab control of the game.

Owen Sound team captain Santino Centorame paced the Attack offensively with a goal and two assists while Cordell James, Jonah Gadjovich, Aidan Dundas andPetrus Palmu added single goals.

Markus Phillips and Sean Durzi chipped in with a pair of assists apiece for the visitors.

Windsor starting netminder Michael DiPietro allowed five goals on 16 shots before being pulled midway through the second period. Mario Culina made 12 saves in a relief effort.

The six goals allowed by the two Spitfire netminders were the most the team has allowed during regulation play this season. The Sarnia Sting did score six goals against Windsor earlier this season, but that game went to overtime.

The Windsor Spitfires schedule has them return to action on Saturday on the road when they play their final game of the 2016-2017 OHL regular season against the Saginaw Spirit, who will be missing post-season play this spring.
