Family Respite Services Partners with Canada Bread to Provide Programs for Local Teens with Disabilities
Family Respite Services is proud to announce that they have partnered with Canada Bread Company, Limited, a proud member of Grupo Bimbo, to provide accessible programming to local teens with disabilities in their shared communities. In support of programs offered by Family Respite Services and the Town of LaSalle Vollmer Complex, Canada Bread made a $3,000 donation.
“As part of our Good Neighbour Program, Canada Bread is committed to developing the communities where we operate through environmental preservation and the promotion of healthy, active lifestyles,” said Teresa Schoonings, Corporate Affairs Director for Canada Bread. “We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of teens with disabilities by providing them with access to fun and engaging programs right in their community.”
Since 2008, Family Respite Services and the Town of LaSalle Vollmer Complex have worked to offer inclusive programs to everyone in the community as local mainstream programs do not meet the needs of children, especially those with disabilities. Programs such as Fantastic Fridays at the Vollmer Complex ensure that teens with disabilities have opportunities just like their peers.
“Family Respite Services relies on partnerships in our community that allow us to continue to offer programs that provide parents with a much needed break and children with disabilities engaging and meaningful activities that they can be a part of just like everyone else,” said Alexandria Fischer, Fundraising & Recruitment Coordinator, Family Respite Services. “Donors help create memories for children; we are so appreciative of Canada Bread for making this generous donation.”
