JUMPSTART BENEFITS FROM PUCKS FOR BUCKS FUNDRAISNG CAMPAIGN
A number of fundraising campaigns held by elementary school students in Windsor Essex has led to a sizeable donation to the Jumpstart Nutrition program.
A total of 27 schools from 3 school boards participated in the Pucks For Bucks program in conjunction with the 2017 Mastercard Memorial Cup, to be held in Windsor May 18th to May 28th.
At the Pucks For Bucks wrap up event today at Corpus Christi Middle School in Windsor, $1000.00 was donated to the Jumpstart Nutrition
program that provides a daily breakfast and healthy snacks to students free of charge.
The local fundraising efforts were augmented by a $2500.00 donation from Teachers Life, a not-for-profit insurance company providing insurance for Canada’s education community.
Each participating class created its own fundraising campaign – at Corpus Christi students donated $2.00 towards their snack program and were
allowed to wear hockey jerseys to school. Every dollar raised stays in local schools. The total amount raised at all schools will be released next week.
Funds raised from the Pucks For Bucks program will benefit 10,224 students in Windsor Essex. The nutrition programs provide healthy snacks such as fruits and vegetables to many students who would normally go without.
The additional funds from Teachers Life will be distributed to the most needy schools in Windsor Essex to support their individual nutrition programs, where they will be able to purchase food as well as required infrastructure such as refrigerators, knives, cutting boards, serving dishes, etc.
