Detroit Red Wings vs. St. Louis Blues: Epic Comeback at Little Caesars Arena Game Recap: October 25, 2025
In what will surely be remembered as one of the most dramatic comebacks of the 2025-26 NHL season, the Detroit Red Wings rallied from a four-goal deficit to stun the St. Louis Blues 6-4 at Little Caesars Arena on Friday night.
First Period Blues Dominance
The Blues came out firing on all cylinders, with Jordan Kyrou opening the scoring on a power play opportunity early in the first period. St. Louis continued their offensive onslaught as Jake Neighbours found the back of the net twice, helping the Blues build what seemed like an insurmountable 4-0 lead midway through the second period.
The Turning Point
The momentum shifted dramatically at the 7:52 mark of the second period when Jonatan Berggren cut into the Blues’ lead with a power-play goal, giving the home crowd something to cheer about. The Red Wings then mounted an incredible late-period surge with two goals in just 27 seconds. Rookie Emmitt Finnie, playing in just his ninth NHL game, swatted home a loose puck at 18:34, and J.T. Compher followed by tipping in Travis Hamonic’s shot at 19:01, reducing the deficit to 4-3 heading into the third period.
Third Period Heroics
Alex DeBrincat, who had been struggling to find the scoresheet this season, tied the game at 10:01 of the third with an impressive solo rush, beating Jordan Binnington with a wrist shot from the top of the slot for his first goal of the season.
The comeback was completed by defenseman Simon Edvinsson, who scored twice in the final period to secure the remarkable victory for Detroit. His go-ahead goal sent the Little Caesars Arena crowd into a frenzy, and the Red Wings never looked back.

Detroit coach Todd McLellan summed up the emotional roller coaster perfectly: “You couldn’t have been more disappointed early and more full of joy at the end. That’s an incredible comeback when we had absolutely nothing going on. It was a borderline disaster.”
