WindsorEssex Community Foundation Releases Report on Sport & Belonging in Windsor-Essex
The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) has released its much anticipated report on Sport and Belonging in Windsor-Essex. This report is the direct result of a community conversation held on May 2nd at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore.
Community members and stakeholders were invited to provide feedback on the themes of participation, affordability, inclusivity, gaps and positivity as they relate to sport and sense of belonging in Windsor-Essex.
The goal of the report is to highlight the challenges preventing people from engaging in sport and activity in Windsor-Essex, and providing the solutions or a “game plan” to address these challenges. Sport has the power to bring people together and help us to build a strong and more connected community for all.
“When we asked the community to come together to talk about how sport and recreation contribute to our sense of belonging, we had an overwhelmingly positive response. Volunteer and sports organizations welcomed the opportunity to discuss how we can all work together to increase participation, address affordability, and be more inclusive. We hope this information sharing will inspire more action and collaboration with our Game Plan,” – Lisa Kolody, WECF Executive Director.

It exists to manage donors’ legacy funds and make grants to support local community programs. Through grant making activities, the WECF is able to establish partnerships to assist a broad range of community organizations.
