Saints Indoor Soccer Comes up Short in OCAA Championship
St. Clair Women’s Indoor Soccer Miss Out on Medals
The St. Clair College women’s indoor soccer team were down to the final four at the OCAA Indoor Championships on Friday at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Unfortunately for the Saints they dropped two tight matches to end the season in 4th place in Ontario.
In the semi final the Saints lost 1-0 to Seneca. St. Clair played well but could not find the back of the net hitting a couple of posts in the match. The Seneca women recently won the CCAA National Outdoor Championship and ironically the Saints lost to the Sting in the OCAA outdoor semi-final in the fall.
In the Bronze medal game St. Clair took on the Durham College Lords. The Saints and the Lords tied 0-0 in round robin play on Thursday. Once again offense was an issue for St. Clair as they fell to Durham by a score of 1-0. The Saints also lost to the Lords in the outdoor OCAA Bronze match as well in penalty kicks.
The future is bright for a young St. Clair team that features 15 of 18 players on the roster that were rookies this past year.
St. Clair Men’s Indoor Soccer Come Up Short
The St. Clair men’s varsity indoor soccer team was in Vaughan to take part in the OCAA Championship on Thursday at the Ontario Soccer Centre. The Saints came away with a record of 1 win, 1 loss and 1 tie.
In their first round robin match, St. Clair tied George Brown College 1-1.
The Saints dropped their second game to the Humber Hawks by a score of 4-1.
In their final game of the day the Saints got back on track and defeated Durham College 3-2.
With the third place finish in their pool, St. Clair narrowly missed out on qualifying for the semi- finals on Friday.
