It was a tough way for Saints Soccer to bow out of the OCAA Women’s Soccer Championship tournament for host St. Clair College

Thursday night at the Libro Centre in Amherstburg, the Saints, bronze medalists a year ago, were knocked out of medal contention this year as they were nipped 1-0 by the Humber Hawks. Marissa Stratis was named St. Clair’s Player of the Game.

St. Clair, who were 7-1-2 during the regular season, and led by forward Kaitlyn Austin who had 14 goals during the season, managed a scoreless halftime draw with the Hawks.

Humber advances to take on last year’s silver medalist, the Seneca Sting in one semi-final game on Friday. The other will put defending OCAA champs Algonquin Thunder, who were 12-0 this year, against the Cambrian Golden Shield.

The Saints will play St. Lawrence in one consolation game on Friday with Fanshawe meeting Mohawk in the other.

Bronze medal game goes Saturday at noon followed by the gold medal game at 3 p.m.
