St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Start Semester with Win
The St. Clair women’s volleyball team opened up their second semester OCAA regular season schedule on Wednesday night at the Sportsplex and came away with a hard fought 3-2 win over the Fanshawe College Falcons (London).
Set scores for St. Clair 23-25, 25-14, 25-17, 19-25, and 15-11.
Second year outside hitter Chantal DeVlugt (Wyoming; LCCVI) led the way offensively for the Saints with 10 kills, 1 stuff block, and 7 digs. Rookie setter Emma Clements (Windsor; Holy Names) had a great match with 31 assists, 2 kills, 4 services aces, 1 stuff block and 14 digs.
With the win St. Clair improved to 8-2 on the season while Fanshawe dropped to 3-7. The Saints are currently ranked 4th in Ontario.
The Saints are back in action on Saturday, January 14 when then host Mohawk College at the Sportsplex at 3 pm.
St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Fall to Top Ranked Fanshawe
The St. Clair men’s volleyball team opened up their OCAA second semester schedule on Wednesday night hosting the top ranked Fanshawe College Falcons (London) at the Sportsplex. Unfortunately the Saints came out on the losing end falling 3-0 in very exciting match that was much closer the match score showed.
Set scores for Fanshawe 27-25, 25-23 and 25-20.
Rookie outside hitter Kale Wilkinson (Windsor; Riverside) led the way offensively for the Saints with 11 kills (474 %), 1 stuff block, 1 and 4 digs. Second year libero Blake Harnadek (Cottam; Essex District) had a solid match as well with some outstanding service reception along with 2 assists and 12 digs.
With the loss St. Clair dropped to 4-6 on the season while Fanshawe improved to 9-1. Fanshawe is ranked 2nd in Ontario and 3rd in Canada.
The Saints are back in action on Saturday, January 14 when they host Mohawk College at the Sportsplex at 1 pm.
