Big Win for St. Clair Women’s Volleyball
The St. Clair women’s volleyball team continued their OCAA regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex and came away with a convincing 3-0 win over the Mohawk College Mountaineers (Hamilton).
Set scores for St. Clair 25-17, 25-14, and 25-17. The Saints had lost to Mohawk 3-1 in Hamilton on November 12.
Third year outside hitter Chantal DeVlugt (Wyoming; LCCVI) led the way offensively for the Saints with 10 kills, 1 stuff block, and 4 digs. Rookie middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg; Marantha Christian) had a big game as well with 8 kills, 2 service aces, 1 stuff block and 4 digs. Second year Libero Mikayla Stocks had a great match as well with 1 assist and 14 digs.
With the win St. Clair improved to 9-2 on the season while Mohawk dropped to 5-6. The Saints are currently ranked 4th in Ontario while the Mountaineers are 9th.
The Saints are back in action on Wednesday, January 18th when they travel to Kitchener to take on the 9-2 Conestoga Condors in a battle for second place in the OCAA West.
St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Lose to Mohawk
The St. Clair men’s volleyball team continued their OCAA schedule on Saturday afternoon hosting the Mohawk College Mountaineers (Hamilton) at the Sportsplex. The Saints struggled on the day losing 3-1.
Set scores for Mohawk were 25-21, 25-16, 20-25 and 25-15.
Rookie outside hitter Kale Wilkinson (Windsor; Riverside) led the way offensively for the Saints with 11 kills and 1 service ace. Rookie outside hitter Eric Glos (Tecumseh; Tecumseh Vista) had a solid game as well with 8 kills, 1 service ace and 6 digs.
With the loss St. Clair dropped to 4-7 on the season while Mohawk improved to 6-5. Mohawk is ranked 9th in Ontario.
The Saints are back in action on Wednesday, January 18 when they travel to Kitchener to take on the Conestoga College Condors.
