SCC Saints Volleyball Review Nov 10 2017

Men’s Volleyball

The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night at the Sportsplex against the Sheridan Bruins from Oakville.

The Saints lost the match by a score of 3-1.  St. Clair got off to a slow start losing the first two sets by scores of 25-20. The Saints bounced back and won the third set 25-16 but ending up losing the fourth set 25-22 to end the comeback. A quick look at the game stats and one may think the Saints won but great defense by Sheridan and untimely service and hitting errors cost St. Clair throughout the match.  Middle Robert Carter (Wallacetown) had a solid game for St. Clair with 13 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 3 assists and 2 digs.  Michael Knight (LaSalle) was also solid with 12 kills, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block and 4 digs coming off the bench and playing in three sets.

With the loss the Saints are now 3-1 on the season. The St. Clair men are currently ranked 3rd in Ontario and 13th in Canada. The win improved Sheridan’s record to 2-1. The Bruins were ranked 7th  in Ontario heading into the match. The men are next in action on Friday, November 17 when the head to Ancaster to take on the Redeemer Royals.
