The St. Clair College women’s volleyball season came to an end on Saturday afternoon in Peterborough.

The Saints dropped their playoff cross over match to Trent University by a score of 3-0. After taking a lead of 23-20 in the first set St. Clair couldn’t close out Trent losing the next 5 points to drop the set.

From there, Trent gained some momentum taking the next two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-16. Trent will now travel to North Bay this week to take part in the OCAA Championships being hosted by Canadore College.

St. Clair finished the regular season with a record of 10-8 in the OCAA West Division and tied for 4th place. However, due to tiebreakers the Saints ended up in 6th place and had to travel to Trent to take on the 3rd place Excalibur. Trent finished their regular season with a record of 16-4 and ranked 3rd in Ontario. Trent was hot coming in to the match winning 6 straight matches and finished the regular season with a home record of 9-1.

Head Coach Jimmy El-Turk will now focus his time on recruiting for the 2016-17 season. St. Clair is putting in a bid to host the OCAA Championships at the Sportsplex next February. Should the bid be successful the Saints will earn an automatic berth into the Championship. The official announcement of the host will be confirmed at the OCAA AGM in late April.
