The St. Clair College Department of Athletics and women’s volleyball program has announced the signing of top recruit Te-Anna Stephenson to a Letter of Intent for the 2017-18 season

Stephenson, a 5’11” outside hitter, is from Whitby where she attends Sinclair Secondary School and captured an OFSAA gold in grade 10 playing up with her senior team. She played her 18U club season for Phoenix Legacy Volleyball Club out of Toronto, where they won gold in the Division I Tier II at the Ontario Championships. Stephenson is taking the Pre-Health Science program at St. Clair in the fall with plans on enrolling in the three year Dental Hygiene program the following year.

Te-Anna is very excited to come to St. Clair next fall. “When I first visited the school I immediately felt welcomed by all the girls on the team. I loved the environment and the people. The atmosphere of the Sportsplex at the OCAA provincial championship was amazing and so were the fans! I am looking forward to studying Dental Hygiene and the lab looked amazing. It’s fair to say that I was sold on the first night of my visit.”

Head Coach Jimmy El-Turk could not be happier to have Stephenson on board. “We are very excited to announce Te-Anna’s commitment to St. Clair College. She was late getting on our radar but after watching her play for a few minutes, I was immediately drawn to her competitiveness on the floor. She is driven to win and I’m confident that she is going to fit in and make a positive impact on our training environment from day 1. As the profile of our program continues to grow, our ability to attract athletes from the Greater Toronto Area will get easier and adding Te-Anna is a great example of that.”

St. Clair finished the regular season with a record of 12-6 in the OCAA West Division and 3rd place. The Saints hosted the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship and narrowly missed out on a medal finishing in 4th place in the province.
