Saints Volleyball Weekend Review November 24 2019

St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Drop Tight Match to Humber

The St. Clair women’s volleyball team wrapped up their OCAA regular season first semester home schedule on Sunday afternoon and suffered a tough 3-1 loss to the Humber Hawks (Etobicoke) in an exciting back and forth entertaining match.

Set scores for Humber were 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-23. Rookie outside hitter Chantal DeVlugt (Wyoming; LCCVI) had a big game with 12 kills, 1 service ace and 2 digs. 3rd year middle Kiana Gelissen (LaSalle; Sandwich Secondary) had a great match as well with 3 kills, 6 stuff blocks, 5 service aces and 3 digs. 5th year Libero Julie Ann Milling (Woodstock; Woodstock Collegiate) had a huge defensive game with 22 digs and outstanding serve reception throughout the match.

With the loss St. Clair’s record dropped to 5-2 while Humber improved to 4-2. St. Clair is currently ranked 3rd in Ontario and 14th in Canada while the Hawks are ranked 4th in Ontario.

St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Fall to Top Ranked Humber

The St. Clair men’s volleyball team wrapped up their OCAA regular season first semester home schedule on Sunday afternoon and suffered a 3-0 loss to the top ranked Humber Hawks (Etobicoke)

Set scores for Humber were 25-11, 25-12, and 25-16. With the loss St. Clair’s record dropped to 3-4 while Humber improved to 6-0. The Humber men are currently ranked 1st in Ontario and 2nd in Canada.

St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Win Over Sheridan

The St. Clair men’s volleyball team continued their OCAA regular season schedule at home on Saturday afternoon and came away with a hard fought 3-0 win over the Sheridan Bruins (Oakville).

Set scores for St. Clair were 25-22, 30-28 and 25-23. 2nd year outside hitter Frankie Friesen (Staples; Tibury District) led the way with 18 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 2 services aces and 5 digs. Rookie outside hitter Logan Ondricko (Belle River; St. Anne’s) had a great match as well with 8 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 1 service ace and 3 digs. Rookie setter Simran Pahal (Kitchener; Huron Heights) had a solid match as well moving the ball around well with 34 assists and also picking up 2 kills and 5 digs.

St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Earn Hard Fought Win Over Sheridan

The St. Clair women’s volleyball team continued their OCAA regular season schedule at home on Saturday night and came away with a hard fought 3-2 win over the Sheridan Bruins (Oakville).

Set scores for St. Clair were 26-28, 25-15, 25-19, 15-25 and 16-14. .The Saints battled back in the 5th set after being down 10-5. 2nd year outside hitter Amelia Oliverio (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) had a big game with 13 kills and 11 digs. 3rd year outside hitter Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary) had a great match as well with 17 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 1 service ace and 8 digs. Rookie middle Keyome Ellis (Toronto; Jean Vanier Catholic) had a solid game as well with 13 kills, 2 service aces, 1 stuff block and 2 digs.
