St. Clair Men’s Volleyball End Season with Most Wins Ever
The St. Clair men’s volleyball team was in Sudbury this past weekend to wrap up their OCAA regular season schedule and came home with a split.
On Saturday afternoon, the Saints took on the Cambrian Golden Shield and suffered a 3-1 loss. Set scores for Cambrian were 27-25, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-16. With the win Cambrian’s record improved to 12-6 on the season.
Eric Glos (Tecumseh; Tecumseh Vista) led the way for the Saints with 17 kills, 3 service aces, and 5 digs.
On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair was at College Boreal and defeated the Vipers 3-0. Set scores for the Saints were 25-20, 25-13 ,and 25-18. With the loss Boreal’s record dropped to 1-17 on the year.
Second year middle Zach Walls (Amherstburg; Villanova) had a big game for the Saints with 6 kills, 6 service aces and 1 stuff block.
With the split, the St. Clair men ended their regular season with a record of 13-5 on the season and tied for second place in the OCAA West Division. It was the most wins ever in a season for the program. The Saints are currently 2nd ranked in Ontario and 7th in Canada.
St. Clair Women’s Volleyball End Season 16-2
The St. Clair women’s volleyball team was in Sudbury this past weekend to wrap up their OCAA regular season schedule and came home with 2 convincing wins.
On Saturday afternoon, the Saints took on the Cambrian Golden Shield and came away with a solid 3-0 win. Set scores for St. Clair were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-16. With the loss Cambrian’s record fell to 7-11 on the season.
Second year middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg; Marantha) led the way for the Saints with 13 kills, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block, and 4 digs.
On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair was at College Boreal and took down the Vipers 3-0. Set scores for the Saints were 25-13, 25-15,and 25-12. With the loss Boreal’s record fell to 1-17 on the year.
Third year outsider hitter Kiana Huggins (London; Saunders) had a big game for the Saints with 7 kills, 4 service aces and 5 digs in 2 sets played.
With the two wins, the St. Clair women ended their regular season with a record of 16-2 on the season and in second place in the OCAA West Division. The Saints are currently ranked 2nd in Ontario and 8th in Canada.
