Shalena Horst and St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Take Down Mohawk

The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team won their match at the Sportsplex on Friday night over Mohawk by a score of 3-0.

Game scores for St. Clair were 25-21, 25-19, and 25-13. The Saints had a solid team effort and were led by Shalena Horst with 11 kills, 6 services aces, 1 stuff blocks, and 9 digs. Sara Yablonsky had a solid match as well with 8 kills, 1 stuff blocks and 5 digs.

The St. Clair women improved to 8-6 on the season while Mohawk fell to 5-9. The Saints are now in 4th place in the OCAA West Division and are currently ranked 9th in Ontario.

The Saints are next in action when they host the Conestoga Condors on Sunday January 31 at 1 pm at the Sportsplex.

 

St. Clair Men’s Volleyball Struggle Against Mohawk

A banged up St. Clair College men’s volleyball team struggled on Friday night against the top ranked Mohawk Mountaineers losing by a score of 3-0. With several key players injured the Saints battled hard in the first set but ran out of gas in the next two sets.

Game scores for Mohawk were 25-21, 25-12, and 25-13. The Saints were led by Jared Niziolek with 5 kills, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block, and 3 digs.

The St. Clair men fell to 3-11 on the season while Mohawk improved to 11-3. The Mountaineers are ranked 3rd in Ontario and 9th in Canada.

The Saints are next in action when they host the Conestoga Condors on Sunday January 31 at 3 pm at the Sportsplex.
