The Essex Region Conservation Authority and Rotary Club of Windsor St. Clair are proud to announce the Race sponsor for the 2016 edition of the South Coast Adventure Race, Windsor Adventure Inc.
“Windsor Adventure Inc. is a perfect match for the South Coast Adventure Race,” said Danielle Breault Stuebing, SCAR Race Director and ERCA’s Director of Community Outreach Services. “Windsor Adventure Inc. shares our love of adventure and seeks to get people active in their natural environment, so we couldn’t have asked for a better organization to partner with us for our third annual adventure race.”
Windsor Adventure Inc. officially launched in the summer of 2015, offering rental equipment, such as paddle boards, kayaks, long boards and bicycles, to anyone wanting to enjoy the trails, waterways, and natural spaces of the Windsor-Essex region. Their mission, much like that of the South Coast Adventure Race, is to provide opportunity for individuals to experience memorable outdoor adventures in the region.
“Windsor Adventure Inc. is thrilled to sponsor SCAR 2016. We are proud to support ERCA and the SCAR team as we share similar values of getting people active and outdoors while respecting and learning about the environment,” – Wayne Bate, owner and operator of Windsor Adventure Inc.
Registration is now open for SCAR, which has grown in popularity and prominence as the newest adventure race in Southwestern Ontario. Early bird rates run until February 29, and the event is already over thirty percent sold out.
SCAR also recently joined the Canadian Adventure Racing Association and Adventure Racing Ontario Series, which allows participants to compete against teams throughout the year at a number of adventure races in the province.
This year’s event will be based out of the Holiday Beach Conservation Area, near Amherstburg, Ontario, on June 18, 2016. As with all adventure races, the actual course is kept secret until race day. A maximum of 300 racers will be allowed this year. The event is also offering pre- and post-race overnight camping at Holiday Beach, adding an extra element of adventure.
This 6-8 hour race will include cycling, trekking, orienteering and paddling. Solo racers or teams of two or three participants can complete in all male, all female or co-ed categories. As well, the SCAR offers a unique Youth category for those aged 13 – 17 who wish to participate. For race and registration information, please visit erca.org/SCAR
SCAR 2016 will again be co-hosted by the Essex Region Conservation Authority and the Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair, with funds raised used to implement community service projects and improve our local environment.
