South Coast Adventure Race Registration Open

Athletes and amateur thrill seekers have yet another chance to get a crash course on the sport of adventure racing at an upcoming Adventure Racing Workshop scheduled for February 12 at 6pm at the WFCU Centre in Windsor.

For the first time, the SCAR course will be designed to be completed in 12 to 14 hours, making it one of the longest Adventure Races in Ontario. The SCAR will also feature an early morning ‘dark start’ adding another exciting element to the event.

Rob and Andrew Pula who are adventure athletes with dozens of races under their belts, will be at the workshop to share their wealth of experience. Topics covered will focus on completing longer races; including advanced tips and techniques for proper race navigation, nutrition and required equipment, as well as racing in the dark.

“Once again we’re planning a South Coast Adventure Race course that will highlight some of our region’s most stunning natural places,” says Race Director Danielle Stuebing. “It will be great for anyone interested in testing their mettle at the annual multi-sport event, which includes trekking, orienteering, cycling, and paddling throughout the Essex Region’s conservation areas and natural spaces. The added length to the course has been received very positively within the Adventure Racing community and has already attracted over 35 teams from across Ontario and Michigan”.

The workshop is free, but space is limited. Participants can register online.

The South Coast Adventure Race happens on Saturday June 15, and a limited number of early bird discounts are still available until February 1. Registration is limited to the first 150 racers. For more information about the race, or to register online.
