Spitfires Game Recap Oct 27

Michael DiPietro made 23 saves as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 5-2 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor Thursday night.

The Spitfires (9-4-0) received single goals from Aaron Luchuk, Cristiano DiGiacinto, Gabriel Vilardi, Logan Brown and Jeremiah Addison (“Spitfire In Play!” as chosen by the Windsor Spitfires) to defeat the Greyhounds for the second time in three games this season. The win also vaulted Windsor into first place atop the Ontario Hockey League’s West Division standing

Defenceman Sean Day, playing in his third game since being acquired from Mississauga last week, chipped in with a pair of assists.

Tim Gettinger and Morgan Frost both scored for the Greyhounds (8-5-1-0) who lost for the first time in seven road games this season.

The win boosted the Spitfires’ home record to 6-1 and avenged the team’s only loss at the WFCU Centre so far this season.

Joseph Raaymakers made 27 saves in a losing effort for the visitors.

The Spitfires return to action Saturday night at the WFCU Centre for a contest against the North Bay Battalion.
