The Spitfires snapped a nagging five-game losing skid with a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs at the First Ontario Centre on Saturday night.
Hayden McCool (12) opened the scoring at 19:35 of the first period, taking a nifty pass from Tyler Nother before beating Connor Hicks (24 saves) from just above the hash marks.
After Logan Brown scored his 11th of the season, he and Christian Fischer hooked up to make it a 3-0 game at 16:15 of the second period, executing a picture perfect give-and-go on a 3-on-1 rush.
MacKenzie Entwistle got Hamilton (21-29-7-0) on the board with just 72 seconds to play in the middle frame, cutting the lead to 3-1, but the Spits had all they’d need in support of Mario Culina’s 18-save effort in goal.
Aaron Luchuk (23) iced the game with the only goal of the third period at 15:33.
The win moved Windsor (32-18-6-0) back within a point of the Sarnia Sting in the chase for first place in the West Division.
The Spits are right back at it Sunday afternoon (2pm) as the Bulldogs make a return visit to the WFCU Centre.
