SPORT CARD & MEMORABILIA EXPO TO HOST 1st EVER VIRTUAL EVENT IN THE SPORTS COLLECTABLES HOBBY
The Sport Card & Memorabilia Expo Powered by eBay has announced that it will host the 1st ever virtual show in the sports collectables hobby; June 19-20, live and online.
“Despite COVID-19 and the cancellation of all major sports, online buying and selling is at an all-time high for the hobby,” says Expo President and Owner, Steve Menzie. “Our goal is to bring the collector community together – just as we have twice a year, every year since 1991.”
Utilizing a mix of online media and technology, the Sport Card Expo – VIRTUAL EDITION will provide innovative experiences for participants of all ages, which include but are not limited to:
- An immersive online trade show experience for participants to buy, sell and trade rare and collectable sports cards and memorabilia in real time
- Interactive Guest Q&A’s and one-to-one video chats with sports celebrities (to be announced)
- Case breaks, auctions, appraisals, contests, product presentations and other unique activations with manufacturers and distributors.
The EXPO will feature a “virtual hall” loaded with exhibitor booths where attendees can interact directly with sellers through both video and chat. A web-based platform will allow participants to access the hall from a smartphone or computer (with no app to download) anywhere in the world.
“We are really excited to provide an immersive and unique experience to connect a global community of fans and collectors in a new way,” says Expo GM, Jeremy Renaud.
Of special note, the first 1,000 participants can register online for free through June 5th.
“The show must go on!” says Menzie.
