St. Clair’s Coffey Still in the Medal Hunt

(Windsor, Wed. Oct. 13, 2021) Justin Grimard of Rafales de Terrabonne shot a stellar round of 68 to take a two-shot lead over teammate Hugo Denis after two rounds of play in the men’s individual competition at the 2021 CCAA Golf National Championships presented by PING.

A beautiful day of Southwestern Ontario weather led to low scores for athletes on both sides of the competition at Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.

After shooting 36 on the front nine, Grimard sunk four birdies on the back nine to finish with a tournament-low round of 68. Grimard jumped three spots after a first round score of 72.

Behind Denis in second place is a three-way tie for third place between Jayden Dudas of the Medicine Hat Rattlers, Felix Bouchard of André-Laurendeau and Mitchel Hanson of the Fanshawe Falcons, who are all +1 after the second round.

In the men’s team competition, the André-Laurendeau Boomerang (+23) hold onto first place with a three-shot lead over Champlain St. Lawrence and Rafales de Terrabonne.

In the women’s individual competition, Humber Hawk teammates Madison Ouellette (+7) and Hayley McCallum (+9) sit in first and second place, respectively. Anne-Sophie Belanger (+10) of the Champlain St. Lawrence Lions moved into third place after shooting a round two score of 75.

Battling for the podium are Morgan Best of the John Abbott College Islanders and Shannon Coffey of the host St. Clair Saints, who are both tied for fourth place after shooting +14 after two rounds.

In the women’s conference competition, Team OCAA 1 (+16) including Ouellette, McCallum and Coffey hold an eight-shot lead over Team RSEQ 1 (+24).
