Defending Champion St. Clair College Men’s Baseball Open 2022 Season
The defending OCAA Champion St. Clair College Men’s Baseball team open their season this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh against George Brown College (Toronto) on Saturday and Humber College (Etobicoke) on Sunday. Saturday’s doubleheader with George Brown begins at 4:00pm and Sunday’s twin bill against Humber begins at 1:00pm.
The Saints return all four of their league all-stars from the 2021 squad including left-handed hurler Cameron O’Reilly (Moose Jaw, SK) who was also the OCAA Pitcher of the Year last season along with catcher Henry Real (Panama City, Panama) who was named the Championship MVP. Shortstop Josh Anderson (Ajax, ON) and first baseman Colin Robinson (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) were the Saints other all-stars a year ago but will feature a strong incoming class starting with a pair of transfers in catcher/third baseman Garret Kratz (Ajax, ON) and centerfielder Ethan Paulos (Ancaster, ON).
Locally the Saints welcome a pair of Tecumseh Thunder players from LaSalle in third baseman/pitcher Owen Findlay (St. Thomas of Villanova) and pitcher Cody Moore (Sandwich SS). Also joining the Saints pitching roster this fall from out of town are Miles Lagoutte (Sylvan Lake, Alberta/École H. J. Cody High School) and Andrew Cooper (Brampton, ON/Brampton Centennial SS).
Sunday’s double dip with Humber will be a rematch of last year’s OCAA Championship game and the visitors return a pair of league all-stars in pitcher Dalton Brownlee (Innisfil, ON) and infielder Aidan Murphy, (Brampton, ON). The Saints have won six of the eight OCAA Championships with Humber winning the other two.
St. Clair Women’s Softball Hit Road for Opener then come Home Sunday
The St. Clair College Women’s Softball team open their 2022 OCAA season with a pair of games in Hamilton Saturday before hosting a 3-team round robin Sunday at the SportsPark diamond.
In the home opener on Sunday the Saints will take on Lambton College (Sarnia) at 10:30am and then face Fanshawe College (London) at 3:30pm. Between those match-ups Lambton will meet Fanshawe at 1:00pm.
St. Clair travels to Mohawk Sports Park in Hamilton on Saturday to meet host Mohawk College at 11:00am and Conestoga College (Kitchener) at 2:00pm.
The Saints return all their OCAA league all-stars from last season’s silver medal team including the 2021 Player of the Year in pitcher/first baseman Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON) and Rookie of the Year in shortstop Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names). Catcher/outfielder Julia Brusseau (Lakeshore, ON/St. Anne) and outfielder Judy Lafleur (Essex, ON/Essex) are the other returning league all-stars for the Saints.
St. Clair’s lineup was further strengthened by the addition of transfer infielder/pitcher Bryanna Kressler (Kitchener, ON), outfielder Sierra Baltzer (LaSalle, ON), utility player Madison Barber (Caledon, ON) and pitcher Mckenna Copley (Dover Centre, ON).
St. Clair has won four silver medals and a bronze in the past five OCAA seasons.
