The St. Clair College Volleyball Women volleyball team wrapped up their regular season schedule this past weekend hosting two matches at the Sportsplex
Heading into the weekend the Saints had locked up 3rd place in the OCAA West Division.
On Saturday, the Saints took on the Cambrian Golden Shield. This was a huge match for Cambrian who had to win their final two matches to make the playoffs. St. Clair got off to a strong start winning the first set 25-16. However, it was all Cambrian after that as they won the next three sets to win by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-15 to win the match 3-1. Angela Evans (Panama) led the way for the Saints offensively with 13 kills and 7 digs.
On Sunday, St. Clair bounced back to easily defeat the College Boreal Viperes 3-0. Game scores for Saints were 25-5, 25-16 and 25-14. Kaitlyn Sauve (Windsor) had a solid match for St. Clair with 8 kills, 3 service aces, 1 stuff block and 7 digs in 2 sets played.
With the weekend split, the Saints ended their regular season with a record of 12-6; good for third place alone in the OCAA West Division. The women are currently ranked 3rd in the OCAA.
St. Clair has just under two weeks to focus on and prepare for their OCAA Quarterfinal match. St. Clair is hosting the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Sportsplex from February 24-26. As host the Saints are guaranteed a spot in the 8 team tournament with the winner advancing to the CCAA Nationals in Victoria, BC. St. Clair will be playing the Algonquin Thunder on Friday, February 24 at 8 pm. Algonquin finished the regular season in 2nd place in the OCAA East Division with a record of 15-3.

Heading into the weekend the Saints had to win both matches and get some help to secure a playoff spot in the very competitive OCAA West Division.
Unfortunately, the Saints did their part but they did not get the help they needed to get into the playoffs.
On Saturday, the Saints took on the Cambrian Golden Shield from Sudbury. St. Clair got off to a strong start winning the first set 25-11. Cambrian bounced back to win the 2nd set 25-23. However, it was all Saints after that as they won the next two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-19 win the match 3-1. Jared Niziolek (Windsor) led the way for the Saints offensively with 9 kills, 1 service ace, 2 stuff blocks and 4 digs.
On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair had another solid match defeating the College Boreal Viperes 3-0. Game scores for Saints were 25-14, 25-12 and 25-12. Mike Knight (LaSalle) had a solid match for St. Clair with 7 kills, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block and 2 digs.
With the weekend wins, the Saints ended their regular season with a record of 9-9 and tied for 5th place. The men are currently ranked 8th in the OCAA. However, due to tie breakers with Niagara and Sheridan St. Clair drops to 7th place, which is one spot out of the playoffs. The Saints are only 2 wins out of third place in a very tight division.
