St. Clair Cricket Teams Wins Tournament
In the first ever OCR (Ontario Collegiate Recreation) indoor cricket tournament recently hosted by St. Clair College, the Saints Men’s Cricket team didn’t disappoint the home crowd.
St. Clair hosted the event, with rave reviews, this past Saturday in the Classic Gym with Fanshawe, Mohawk and Conestoga taking part.
It was a successful day for the Saints as they walked away Champions of the event going 4-1 for the day.
St. Clair started the day defeating Mohawk College 40-19. After a short break the Saints suffered a tough loss in a nail biter against Fanshawe College by just 1 run. St. Clair wrapped up the league stage by taking down Conestoga College with a score of 55-43.
By going 2-1 in the league play St. Clair progressed to the Qualifier game against Conestoga College and came away with an impressive 39-31 win to qualify for the Championship match against the Fanshawe Falcons.
The Championship game exceeded expectations with the score of 37-37 by the end of regulation. In an exciting “super over” the St. Clair Saints came out victorious with a 5-4 score.
The Best Bowler of the tournament was awarded to Rishab Singh while Rushabkumar Patel was named tournament MVP.
The Saints will next compete in the OCR Indoor Cricket RECCup Regional Championship at Conestoga College on February 17 with hopes to qualify for the Championship in Toronto on March 24.
