St. Clair Women’s Indoor Soccer Earn Silver

The St. Clair College varsity women’s indoor soccer team started off their OCAA schedule on a positive note.

The Saints travelled to Ancaster to take part in the Redeemer University Royal Cup on Friday, January 25 and came home with the Silver medal.

In their first match, St. Clair defeated the host Redeemer 3-0. Cassie Rose-Medeiros scored twice for the Saints while Kaitlyn Austin had the other tally.

In their next match, the Saints tied the Centennial Colts 0-0. In their third match of the day St. Clair took down the George Brown Huskies 3-0. Goal scores were Cassie Nicholas, Alayna Banks and Ryan Morneau. In their fourth and final round robin match the Saints defeated the University of Toronto-Mississauga by a score of 2-1 . Goal scorers were Morneau and Nicholas.

The Saints finished the round robin with a record of 3-0-1 which was good enough for 1st place in their pool. This set up the gold medal match against the Mohawk Mountaineers, who finished 1st in the other pool. St. Clair fell to the Mountaineers in a tough tight match losing 1-0.

The St. Clair College varsity men’s indoor soccer team started off their OCAA schedule on a positive note.

The Saints travelled to Ancaster to take part in the Redeemer University Royal Cup on Saturday, January 26 and came home with the Silver medal.

In their first match, St. Clair defeated the host Redeemer 2-1. Martin Nyul and Korede Adepitan scored for the Saints.

In their next match, the Saints took down the Centennial Colts 5-2. Goal scorers were Nyul, Nick Bauer, Tyrone Mulder, Evan Mendonca and Matt Montaleone. In their third match of the day St. Clair tied the George Brown Huskies 2-2. Goal scores were Adepitan and Mulder. In their fourth and final round robin match the Saints tied the University of Toronto-Mississauga 0-0 . Goal scorers were Morneau and Nicholas.

The Saints finished the round robin with a record of 2-0-2 which was good enough for 1st place in their pool. This set up the gold medal match against the Sheridan Bruins, who finished 1st in the other pool with a record of 4-0. In a tight exciting match the score at the end of regulation was 1-1 with Montaleone scoring for St. Clair. Unfortunately the Bruins came out on top after penalty kicks to claim the tournament championship trophy.
