The St. Clair College Department of Athletics and men’s volleyball program is pleased to announce the signing of 6’4” outside hitter, Robert Carter to a Letter of Intent for the 2016-17 season.

Carter a native of Wallacetown, Ontario signed the letter on Tuesday night while in attendance at the Saints volleyball match. Robert is currently in grade 12 at West Elgin Secondary School and was named to the Thames Valley Athletic Association All-Star Team. He helped lead his high school team to a WOSSAA Championship and a fifth place finish at OFSAA. Carter also plays for the 18U LVC (London Volleyball Club) Fire. Robert has won the Gold Medal at the International Children’s Games in Windsor, 2 Bronze Medals at the Canadian Nationals, and 3 Bronze Medals at the Ontario Provincial Level. Carter also represented OVA Region 3 at the Ontario Championships at the U16 level

Robert Carter has been accepted to the Mechanical Engineering Technology- Automotive Product Design Program at St. Clair. This is a three year program at the College. Carter will also be joining his brother Stephen on the team. Stephen is currently in his second year of the three year Sport & Recreation Management Program.

Robert can’t wait to get to St. Clair and get started. “I am excited to continue my volleyball career and education at St. Clair College. Not only do they have one of the best academic programs for me but their volleyball team, facilities, and coaches have impressed me a great deal which helped me to make this decision.”

A very young St. Clair team has struggled this year after winning the program’s first ever OCAA Medal last season (Silver) and finishing 4th in Canada. The Saints lost their entire starting lineup from last season including their top 8 point producers. The Saints are currently 4-12 and in 8th place in the OCAA West Division with 2 games remaining this weekend.

St. Clair Head Coach Robert Lynch is very excited to have Robert joining the program. “Robert is a high end player that will help our team immediately. He is not only a great player but is a great person and student which is something we look for in all of our recruits. He is going to be a key part of our program moving forward,” stated Lynch.
