St. Clair Saints Soccer Playoff Opponents Announced
St. Clair Women’s Soccer to Host St. Lawrence in Playoff Game Sunday
The St. Clair College women’s soccer team will be taking on the St. Lawrence College Vikings on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm in OCAA Playoff action. The match will take place on the Main Campus Field at the St. Clair College Main Campus.
The winner of the match will advance to the OCAA Championship being hosted by Cambrian College in Sudbury from Oct 26-28.
The St. Clair women ended their regular season in 2nd place in the OCAA West Division with a record of 7-2-1. The Saints scored 36 goals and allowed 8. St. Lawrence ended their season with a record of 5-6-1 which was good for 4th place in the OCAA East Division. The Vikings scored 17 goals and allowed 36. St. Clair defeated St. Lawrence 5-0 in pre season play in late August in Kingston.
It has been a very successful season for a young and inexperienced rebuilding St. Clair squad who had only 2 starters returning from last year. The Saints have been led offensively by rookie Jaclyn French (Windsor) who scored 9 goals in 10 games played. Cassie Nicholas (Windsor) also has had a strong year scoring 6 goals. St. Clair’s defense has been solid all year with Charesse Thomas-Tate (Brampton), Ravneet Rana (Windsor) and Alexis Provost (Windsor) having very good seasons on the back end. Rookie Keeper Tory Brown (Windsor) has been great in goal all season long as well.
St. Clair Men’s Soccer Host Durham Sunday in OCAA Playoffs
The St. Clair College men’s soccer team will be taking on the Durham College Lords on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 pm in OCAA Playoff action. The match will take place on the Main Campus Field at the St. Clair College Main Campus.
The winner of the match will advance to the OCAA Championship being hosted by Fleming College in Peterborough from Oct 26-28.
The St. Clair men ended their regular season in 3rd place in the very competitive OCAA West Division with a record of 5-3-2. The Saints scored 32 goals and allowed 12. Durham ended their season with a record of 6-3-1 which was good for 2nd place in the OCAA East Division. The Lords scored 18 goals and allowed 7. St. Clair and Durham played to a scoreless draw in pre-season play in late August in Windsor.
It has been a successful season for a rebuilding and rookie laden St. Clair squad who had only 4 starters returning from last year. The Saints were led offensively by Korede Adepitan (Toronto) who scored 12 goals in 10 games played. Martin Nyul also has had a strong year scoring 5 goals in 8 games played. Veteran Stefan Zastavnikovic (Windsor)has been solid in the mid field throughout the season. Keepers Shane Beaton (Windsor) and rookie Petur Mar Burnhoft (Iceland) have been great in goal all season long as well.
