St. Clair Women’s Soccer Earn Draw on Opening Night

The Saints got off to a tough start with Fanshawe’s Kayla McQueen scoring in the 2nd minute of play. The Saints settled down after about the 10 minute mark and played much better throughout the rest of the game.

St. Clair evened things up in the 76th minute on a great penalty kick by Jaclyn French (Windsor; FJ Brennan) who buried the ball in the top right corner. Emma Riccardi (LaSalle; Sandwich) made a great play to draw the penalty in the box.

Fanshawe had a chance to win the game in injury time on a penalty kick but the attempt went over the net.

The player of the game for St. Clair was 4th year Keeper Athena Dimario Done (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) who had to make some key saves throughout the match. Dimario Done ended the match with 11 saves with a couple of those being high end scoring chances. Fanshawe had 18 shot attempts compared to 13 for the Saints.

The Saints are next in action on Tuesday, September 21 when they travel to Sarnia to take on the Lambton Lions at 5 pm.

St. Clair Men Lose Tight Match to Fanshawe

The Saints got off to a slow start with Fanshawe’s Jalen Loague scoring in the 13th minute of play on a strange bounce and somewhat lucky goal. The Saints settled down after that and played well but could not find the back of the Fanshawe net.

The Falcons had 14 shot attempts on goal while St. Clair was one behind with 13. St. Clair keeper Thomas Kogel (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) made 7 saves while the Fanshawe keeper made 5. The Saints had the edge in corner kicks 6-5.

Midfield Noel Junior (Brazil) had a solid game for St. Clair along with defender Austin Severino (Kingsville; Kingsville District).

The Saints are next in action on Wednesday, September 22 when they travel to Sarnia to take on the Lambton Lions at 5 pm
