St. Clair Men’s Soccer Split Trip to GTA

The St. Clair College men’s soccer team travelled to the GTA area this weekend for two tough OCAA games and came away with a split.

On Saturday afternoon, the 9th ranked Saints took on the 6th ranked University of Toronto Mississauga Eagles (2-1) and came away with a solid 3-1 win. Goals scorers were Matt Montaleone (Windsor; Holy Names), Evan Mendonca (West Lorne; West Elgin Secondary) and Bastien Aquilera (Chile) on a penalty kick. Keeper Haiden Gelinas (Windsor; St. Joseph’s) was solid in goal in picking up the win.

On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair was in Oakville to challenge the 4th ranked Sheridan Bruins (2-1). The Saints played well missing a couple great chances early to take the lead including a post, but ended up dropping the game 3-0 for their first loss of the season.

St. Clair is now 2-1 and will open their home schedule next weekend hosting the undefeated Humber Hawks on Saturday at 4 pm.

 

St. Clair Women’s Soccer Split Game on the Road

The St. Clair College women’s soccer team travelled to the GTA area this weekend for two big OCAA games and came away with a split.

On Saturday afternoon, the 8th ranked Saints took on the University of Toronto Mississauga Eagles (0-2-1) and came away with a convincing 6-0 win. Ryan Morneau (Windsor; L’Essor) led the way with way with 4 goals while Cassie Nicholas (Windsor; Holy Names) and Cassie Rose-Medeiros (London; John Paul II) adding singles. Keeper Alex Samping (Windsor; Holy Names) was solid in goal in picking up the win and clean sheet.

On Sunday afternoon, St. Clair was in Oakville to battle the Sheridan Bruins (2-1). The Saints played a great game but could not finish their chances and ended up losing the game 2-0 for their first loss of the season.

St. Clair is now 2-1 and will open their home schedule next weekend hosting the undefeated Humber Hawks on Saturday at 2 pm.
