St. Clair Women’s Indoor Soccer Win Bronze
The St. Clair women’s varsity indoor soccer team didn’t get the colour of the medal they wanted but did not come home empty handed. The Saints were in Vaughan at the Ontario Soccer Centre on Friday taking part in the OCAA Final Four.
St. Clair earned their way to the Final Four after finishing first in their pool on Thursday with 2 wins and a loss in a very tough pool. St. Clair defeated Humber 4-1 and Seneca 1-0 while falling to Sheridan 1-0.
In the semi final the Saints took on the Centennial Colts. In a great back and forth game the Saints ended up falling 3-2 on penalty kicks after overtime did not decide anything with St. Clair just missing on a couple great chances.
The loss set up the Bronze Medal match against the Conestoga Condors.
In another great game the Saints came out victorious winning 2-1 to win the bronze medals.
Lily Collins (Windsor; Holy Names) was named a Championship All Star for her outstanding defensive play throughout the Championship. Keeper Lilly Estephan (Windsor; Brennan) had a great tournament as well only allowing 2 goals in 3 matches played.
Humber ended up taking home the Gold medal defeating Centennial in the final.
