St. Clair Women’s Soccer to Play for OCAA Medal Friday

The St. Clair College women’s indoor soccer team will play for a medal on Friday at the OCAA Championship. The Saints competed at the Championship on Thursday at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Toronto and came away with a solid 3-0 record in round robin pool play. The Championship is being hosted by Humber College.

St. Clair started off the day defeating Mohawk College 3-2. Cassie Nicholas (Windsor; Holy Names) led the way with 2 goals with Cassie Rose-Medeiros (London; John Paul II) adding the 3rd goal.

In their second match, the Saints took down the Conestoga Condors 2-1. Goal scorers were Rose-Medeiros and Kaitlyn Austin (Parkhill; North Middlesex Secondary)

In their final round robin game, St. Clair defeated the Seneca Sting 2-0. Ryan Morneau (Windsor; L’Essor) and Rose-Medeiros scored for the Saints while Natalie Turner (Windsor; Holy Names) got the win and clean sheet in goal.

With their perfect 3-0 record the Saints ended up in 1st place in their pool. St. Clair will play at 10 am in the semi-final on Friday against Fanshawe College, the 2nd place team in the other pool. The winner will advance to the Gold Medal match at 12:30 pm while the loser will play for Bronze at 12:15pm.
