St. Clair Women’s Volleyball Lose Battle for First Place
The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team travelled up the 401 on Wednesday to take on the Fanshawe Falcons in a battle for first place in the OCAA West.
The Saints got off to a slow start dropping the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-16. However St. Clair battled back in the third set winning 25-21. The fourth set went back and forth throughout but the Falcons came out on top in tight set 25-23 to take the match 3-1.
Second year outside hitter Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary) led the way offensively with 15 kills, 2 service aces and 10 digs. Libero Julie Ann Milling (Woodstock; Woodstock Collegiate Institute) had a great match with 13 digs against a tough Falcons offense.
With the loss the Saints fell to 11-2 on the season while Fanshawe improved to 13-0. Both of St. Clair’s losses have been to the Falcons. St. Clair is ranked 2nd in Ontario and 10th in Canada. Fanshawe are ranked 1st in Ontario and 5th in Canada.

The Saints are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Conestoga Condors at 2 pm at the Sportsplex.
