Tigers host fifth annual “Pink Out The Park,” to honor breast cancer survivors and support breast health awareness

As part of the event, 500 breast cancer survivors will take the field around the infield horn prior to Sunday’s game for a special pregame ceremony. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the ballpark as part of the Pink Out the Park initiative.

At the end of the fifth inning, all fans and survivors of breast cancer will be asked to stand and waive Pink Out the Park placards in memoriam or to honor breast cancer survivors and raising breast health awareness.

Placards will be available at all gates and party plazas in Comerica Park. Additionally, pink bats autographed by Tigers players Ian Kinsler, J.D. Martinez, Jose Iglesias and Nick Castellanos will be available for purchase at the Tigers Authentics kiosk located behind section 134 and select pink and breast cancer awareness merchandise will be available for sale in The D Shop with a portion of the proceeds from Authentics and merchandise benefiting breast cancer research.

A special ticket package is available and includes a donation to support breast cancer research at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, a game ticket and a 2016 limited edition Pink Out the Park t-shirt and the first 10,000 women will receive a Detroit Tigers Pink Out the Park Visor.

The Detroit Tigers will host a Mother’s Day celebration at Comerica Park. Prior to Sunday’s game 500 moms will be invited to surround the field as part of the Tigers Mother’s Day celebration at Comerica Park.

All Kids 14-and-under will receive a copy of “Mighty Miggy,” presented by Michigan State Police, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Penny Russell, the Tigers Honorary Bat Girl. Penny was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2015. She was nominated by her close friend who admired her perseverance and positive attitude. The Honorary Bat Girl program was introduced in 2009 to raise additional awareness and support for the annual “Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer” initiative celebrated on Mother’s Day.
