WFCU Centre Community Pool Complete Under Budget and Ahead of Schedule

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens, members of council and several east end residents were on hand. The ribbon was cut to officially mark the completion of construction on the new WFCU Centre Community pool, a 25-metre indoor venue located at the WFCU Centre.  The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

“As of Monday, July 4th, residents and visitors of all ages and abilities will fill this incredible space as we begin to offer programming nearly a full two months ahead of schedule, thanks to the efforts of our construction team,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “This beautiful community pool will be here for the benefit and enjoyment of Windsor residents for years to come.”

Mayor Dilkens acknowledged DeAngelis Construction, as well as Project Manager Stacey McGuire and Project Consultant Don Sadler for completing the WFCU Centre Community Pool so quickly and efficiently.

The $6.4-million pool features a splash pad, therapy pool and multi-lane competitive pool, as well as a built-in wheelchair ramp to access both pools.

Some of the most popular programs, like shallow and deep water aqua fit classes, adult fitness lane swimming, family swims and a Friday night teen swim will be offered to the public at the new facility.

The pool will also serve as a warm-up facility for the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships. The event in December will be staged in a larger temporary pool inside the WFCU’s main bowl December 7th to the 11th.
