The Windsor Clippers put the Wallaceburg Red Devils out of their misery today with a 16-12 victory. The Clippers take the series three games to one, and will move on to the Western conference semi-final. The Clippers opponent is not yet known, but will be either the Six Nations Rebels or the Orangeville Northmen.
Dylan Riley scored four goals for the Clippers and added a pair of assists to lead all Clippers scorers. Andrew Garant and Chase Kavanaugh scored three times each, while Austin Thompson scored twice. Singles were scored by Jake Rosa, Nathan Salaris, Craig Marentette, and Noah Bushnell.
Joel Evans started in goal for the Clippers and was sailing along when he was charged with illegal equipment for wearing a necklace. Wearing jewelry in Lacrosse is grounds for a game misconduct. Fortunately the brain cramp by the young man did not bite the Clippers in the butt. Carson Hebner came on in relief and finished the job.
The Windsor Clippers joined the league in 2003, 15 seasons ago. Wallaceburg was the only team to vote against Windsor joining the league. Since 2003 the Clippers and Red Devils have played each other 62 times. The Clippers have a record of 47-14-1 in that time against the Red Devils. The Clippers have never lost a season or playoff series against the Red Devils. The rivalry rages on.
