With opening day less than four weeks away the 2016 Windsor Clippers have been quietly preparing for the upcoming season.

The Clippers will travel to Six Nations this weekend to participate in an eight-team pre-season tournament. The Clippers will face the Halton Hills Bulldogs, Newmarket Saints and St. Catherines Spartans.

The Clippers have 19 players eligible to return from the 2015 squad, led by captain Logan Holmes. Holmes who won the western conference scoring title in 2015 with 37 goals and 76 assists for 113 points, is in his final year of eligibility.

Andrew Garant and Noah Bushnell will also be pushed to carry a bigger load for the offense in 2016. The graduation of Gianni and Matt Martinello on defense will be a big hole to fill, but a healthy Brandon Lalonde and steady defender Josh Jubenville, along with 2015 rookie of the year Liam Leclair, will anchor the Clippers back end. A number of quality recruits are also in the mix to try and crack the line-up.

The Clippers have acquired a new goaltender in a trade with the Point Edward Pacers. The Clippers signed Brayden Bell, a 6’4” and 300 lb goaltender who played for the Toronto Beaches Jr. A team in 2015.

The Clippers have also picked up defender Alex Mayhead who moved to Windsor to attend St. Clair College. Mayhead also played for the Pacers in 2015. The Clippers also expect Ryan Marchand to return to the fold after he spent 2015 with the Burlington Chief Jr. A team.
