Windsor Essex Sports Hall of Fame 2025 Inductees Announced

The Windsor-Essex County Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 class of inductees representing the highest level of athletic achievement in basketball, track, boxing, wrestling and football.

Heading into the hall after standout track careers that saw them represent Canada in multiple Olympics are Melissa Bishop-Nriagu and Noelle Montcalm along with Kara Ro, a former world boxing champion, Olympic wrestler Jordan Steen and basketball’s Korissa Williams, a five-time national champion with the University of Windsor Lancers.

Also celebrating induction into the hall this November are local football legends in former NFLers Tyrone Crawford and Luke Willson. Both were elected as part of the 2024 WECSHOF class but deferred induction to this year.

“Our rich and diverse sport community is on strong display with our class of 2025 which features professional athletes, Olympic competitors, national, and world champions,” said Chuck Smith, chair of WECSHOF’s board of directors. “This year’s class also honors three individuals elected to the Builders class who represent the best in coaching, officiating and broadcasting. We look forward to recognizing and honouring their achievements in November.”

Basketball coach Andy Kiss, football official Bruce Carter and sports broadcaster Steve Bell will take their well-deserved places in the builder’s category.

This year’s winner of the Bob Turner Award, given annually for exceptional service in coaching and mentorship, is long-time football coach and track official Morgan Clark.

WECSHOF’a induction ceremony is November 8 at the Ciociaro Club.
