Windsor Express on the Passing of Dr Paul Thomas
The management and staff of the Windsor Express wishes to offer their condolences to the family, friends, and acquaintances of Canadian Basketball Hall of Famer Dr Paul Thomas, upon his passing on November 2 at he age of 91.
For decades, “Doc” Thomas was a fixture on the Canadian basketball scene first as a player and then as a coach, including the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and head coach of the Windsor Lancers for 21 years. He was a teacher, and author, but most importantly a mentor to countless student-athletes over the years.
“Windsor Express Basketball recognizes the contributions of Paul (Doc) Thomas to basketball in Windsor,” said president and CEO Dartis Willis. “He was a gentleman who added great value to the local basketball community. Our condolences to his family and friends.”
Dr Paul Thomas was a legendary figure in basketball whose absence will leave a massive void in the lives of many.
