City of Windsor Invests $1.5 Million in New Pickleball and Tennis Courts
New pickleball and tennis courts are ready to use in two more locations, and a third will be ready soon in the city of Windsor.
The City has invested $1,520,000 for improvements to Fontainebleau Park, Wilson Park and Goldenwood Park, including:
- New tennis court for each of the three parks
- Four new pickleball courts for each of the three parks
- New basketball court for Wilson Park
(Note: The new facilities in Wilson Park will be open at month’s end.)
“The addition of a new basketball court, three new tennis courts and twelve new pickleball courts is great news for the growing community of Windsorites who practise and enjoy these sports. These investments in our outdoor spaces increase quality of life, accessibility and community engagement to all neighborhoods. City Council remains committed to continued investment in our parks and recreation amenities and offerings in order to promote healthy active living to our evolving and growing population of residents.”
Mayor Drew Dilkens
These enhancements have transformed the landscape of all three parks respectively. The three new tennis courts, twelve new pickleball courts, and one new basketball court will accommodate a growing community interest in all three sports across various neighbourhoods in the community.
This investment is part of the City’s 2023 budget, which has allocated $21 million toward parks and recreation improvements, and the 10-year capital plan, which will invest in excess of $175 million in City parks, arenas and recreation.
