Grand Opening – South Windsor Recreation Complex
A 15,000-square-foot addition and remodelling effort at the South Windsor Recreation Complex is complete and being hailed a big success.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens celebrated the grand opening with students from Monseigneur Jean Noël and many others today and thanked all involved for seeing the project through to such a positive conclusion.
“This is an investment in our health and well being and an effort that further enhances the quality of life in our community,” said Mayor Dilkens. “We’ve taken a wonderful facility and made it even better with eight new programming rooms, a new gymnasium, a new meeting room, a great new front entrance, new parking, and more”.
The 4.6-million-dollar expansion and renovation became needed when Oakwood Public School was sold by the school board, necessitating that the Oakwood Community Centre’s programming find a new home.
It’s anticipated that this complex will be the third busiest recreation facility in Windsor next only to the WFCU Centre and the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre and Adventure Bay Presented by WFCU Credit Union.
