Windsor Spitfire Jaylen Chatfield Signs Entry-Level Contract with Canucks
Overage defenceman Jalen Chatfield has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
The Ypsilanti, Michigan native – who was named co-captain along with Jeremiah Addison back on March 1st – joined the Spitfires as a free agent back in June, 2014 and has since suited up in 188 regular season games, recording 86 points (17 goals, 69 assists) to go along with a plus-18 rating and 136 penalty minutes.
“I’m really excited to sign with the Canucks,” Chatfield said. “It’s hard to sign a professional contract. You have to work hard and I feel like I have. It’s a great feeling.”
Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel says Chatfield has earned his way to this point.
“I’m really proud of Jalen,” Rychel said. “He came to us on a tryout three years ago. His persistence and determination earned him an NHL deal.”
