Windsor Spitfires add Graham Knott, rights to Frederic
General Manager Warren Rychel has acquired Graham Knott and the rights to Trent Frederic from the Niagara IceDogs.
The Windsor Spitfires also get Niagara’s 7th round pick in 2017, while sending a package of five picks the other way: Kingston’s 3rd in 2017, Windsor’s 6th in 2017, Windsor’s 4th in 2018, Barrie’s 3rd in 2019 and Oshawa’s 2nd in 2021.
“Graham has size and skill and will be a great fit in our top-six forward group,” Rychel said. “He can play both center and left wing for us and will help what is already two pretty good power play units.”
Knott, 19, was a 2nd round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks (#54 overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, while Frederic, 18, was a 1st round pick of the Boston Bruins (#29 overall) last summer in Buffalo.
In 205 career games with Niagara, Knott, a 6’4, 195-pound left winger, posted 49 goals along with 75 assists. A product of the US National Program, Frederic, 18, is a 6’2, 203-pound center currently in his first season at the University of Wisconsin, where he’s scored four goals to go along with six assists in his first eight games as a Badger.
Knott is expected to be in the Windsor Spitfires lineup Saturday afternoon in Flint.
