Last night’s face-off between the Windsor Spitfires and the Sudbury Wolves was an absolute thriller, with the Spitfires claiming a remarkable 11-7 triumph.

The Spitfires were eager to redeem themselves after a significant defeat to the Saginaw Spirit in their last encounter. The Wolves, on the other hand, had bolstered their ranks with new additions like Peterborough’s captain, McCoy, Brantford’s #2 defenseman, Noah Van Vilet, and the Firebirds’ captain, Zacharie Giroux. The Wolves were undoubtedly formidable opponents, but the Spitfires were up to the challenge.

The Spitfires made a commanding start, asserting their dominance in the first period. They quickly established a 4-0 lead within the first 8:30 minutes, thanks to goals from Abraham, Zhugin, and Smith. The Wolves fought back, scoring a goal of their own, but the Spitfires swiftly responded, ending the period with a 6-2 lead.

The third period saw a scoring frenzy from both sides, with a total of seven goals. The Wolves began the period by reducing the deficit to 7-5. The Spitfires, however, remained undeterred, restoring their three-goal lead. The period ended with the Spitfires scoring four goals to the Wolves’ three, cementing their 11-7 victory.

Among the Spitfires’ star performers was Spellacy, who scored his first career hat-trick, and Zito, who scored his first goal of the season and his second later in the game.
