Firebirds Defeat Windsor Spitfires Oct 23
The Flint Firebirds received single goals from four different players in a 4-1 win over the Windsor Spitfires in Flint Saturday night.
After Gabe Vilardi opened the scoring in the game for the Spitfires with just 35 seconds left in the first period, the Firebirds (2-7-1-1) scored four unanswered goals the rest of the way to salt the victory away and send the Spitfires (8-3-1-0) packing.
After Everett Clark brought the Firebirds back to even terms, former Spitfire Luke Kirwan scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the second period. Dan Johnstone and Hunter Holmes both scored their first goals of the season into an empty net late in the third period to round out the scoring in the game.
Garrett Forrest made 23 saves to pick up the win in goal for the Firebirds while Michael DiPietro made35 stops at the other end.
Thee Spitfires who are now off until next Thursday night when they host he Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the WFCU Centre.
