RED WINGS EDGE BRUINS, CLIMB ATLANTIC DIVISION STANDINGS . . .

Three players – Pavel Datsyuk (2-1—3), Henrik Zetterberg (2-1—3) and Darren Helm (2-0—2) – scored two goals apiece to lift the Red Wings over the Bruins in the finale of their five-game homestand (4-0-1).

At 29-18-9 (67 points), the Red Wings leapfrogged the Bruins (30-20-6, 66 points) for second place in the Atlantic Division. Detroit also snapped a six-game skid in the head-to-head series dating to Oct. 15, 2014 (0-2-4). The teams close their four-game season set on April 7 at TD Garden (BOS: 2-1-0, DET: 1-1-1).

Datsyuk, who has spent his entire career with the Red Wings, also recorded his 900th NHL point with his first goal (309-593—902). He became the sixth player in franchise history to reach the milestone, following Gordie Howe (786-1,023—1,809), Steve Yzerman (692-1,063—1,755), Alex Delvecchio (456-825—1,281), Nicklas Lidstrom (264-878—1,142) and Sergei Fedorov (400-554—954).

MILESTONES & MUSINGS

  • Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla (0-1—1) played in his 1,451st career game to tie Teemu Selanne for 22nd place in NHL history.
  • Red Wings forward Brad Richards (0-2—2) played in his 1,100th NHL game.
  • Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist (21 SV) appeared in his 667th NHL game (all w/ NYR) to surpass Mike Richter (666 GP) as the franchise’s all-time leader in games played among goaltenders.
  • Rangers forward Derek Stepan (2-0—2) recorded his 100th NHL goal (101-178—279).
