The defining moment of the game didn’t come until 52 seconds before the end of the second period at Little Caesars Arena when Lorentz, a recent acquisition from San Jose, scored a breathtaking goal to make it 1-0 Panthers, assisted by Niko Mikkola,

Bobrovsky, on the other hand, was a defensive fortress with a total of 22 saves, marking his 39th career shutout. This game also marked his 650th career game, further enhancing his impressive record against the Red Wings.

Anton Lundell, another star player for the Panthers, provided the necessary insurance with an empty-net goal with just 1:12 remaining to make 2-0 Panthers. This goal was also his inaugural one for the season, further fortifying the Panthers’ lead.

Unfortunately for the Red Wings, this game marked their first shutout of the season, despite a commendable performance from James Reimer, who made 25 saves. Their power play, which was a significant strength in their initial seven games, failed them as they missed five opportunities to score.

Despite having scored 11 power play goals in their first seven games, the Red Wings struggled to maintain that momentum.

With this victory, the Panthers’ record stands at 3-0-1 in their last four games. Coach Paul Maurice expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, especially on their penalty kill and power play.
