WWE Superstar The Miz and Cavaliers shooting guard Sam Merrill to star in Celebrity Scramble on Tuesday of Rocket Mortgage Classic
Organizers have announced that WWE Superstar The Miz and Cavs shooting guard Sam Merrill will join the AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble presented by Priority Health Total Health Foundation during Tuesday of the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
These stars will be joining Aidan Hutchinson, Calvin Johnson, Chris Webber and Tom Izzo, who have already committed to play:
- “The Miz” – Professional wrestler and actor; Has been on the main WWE roster since 2006; Won 21 overall championships in WWE; Made his debut in the AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble presented by Priority Health Total Health Foundation last year.
- Sam Merrill – Professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers; Nicknamed “Sammy Buckets,” he was the last pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and won a ring with the Milwaukee Bucks during his rookie season. He averaged 17.5 minutes and 8.0 points per game last season, his second season with the team.
PGA TOUR pros scheduled to compete include:
- Rickie Fowler – A six-time PGA TOUR winner, Fowler registered eight top-10 finishes last season. He has played on five Ryder Cup teams, appeared in three Presidents Cups and represented the United States in the 2016 Olympic Games. Fowler has played in the Rocket Mortgage Classic each year, with two top-12 finishes, including his victory last year.
- Min Woo Lee – The 25-year-old Australian has won four times internationally and is ranked 36th
in the world. Since 2022, he has three top-20 finishes in major championships. He will make his Rocket Mortgage Classic debut. - Tom Kim – Kim is already a three-time PGA TOUR winner before his 22nd birthday. The South Korea native was a member of the International team at the 2022 Presidents Cup, and last season finished top 10 in both the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. In his Rocket Mortgage Classic debut in 2022, he finished seventh.
- Matt Kuchar – A nine-time PGA TOUR winner who has played in five Presidents Cups and four Ryder Cups.
- Will Zalatoris – Zalatoris returned from a back injury that cut short his 2023 season and has already secured three top-10 finishes
this season, including a T9 at The Masters. Zalatoris has performed exceptionally well in major championships throughout his career, with seven top-10 finishes in 10 starts. - The final player will be announced at a later date.
The AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble presented by Priority Health Total Health Foundation tees off Tuesday, June 25 at 5 p.m. at Detroit Golf Club. It is one of many special events at the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s
Detroit Community Days presented by Jeep.
Returning for the third straight year, Detroit Community Days will offer fans complimentary admission and parking for the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s special events on Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26.
On Tuesday, June 25 the First Tee – Greater Detroit Youth Clinic presented by PGA TOUR Superstore will provide elementary- and middle school-age students an opportunity to learn fundamental golf skills and
get tips from PGA TOUR professionals.
The AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble presented by Priority Health Total Health Foundation pits six four-player teams against each other in a three-hole golf exhibition match over holes 14 through 16 at Detroit
Golf Club (AREA 313). PGA TOUR stars captain each team and are grouped with celebrity athletes and entertainers, players from THE JOHN SHIPPEN National Invitational presented by Rocket Mortgage and corporate partners.
On Wednesday, June 26, fans can get up close to the action and watch PGA TOUR professionals playing in a relaxed setting throughout the day during the Delta Dental Pro-Am at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Complimentary parking June 25 and 26 will be located at University of Detroit Mercy – McNichols Campus (4001 W McNichols Rd., Detroit, MI 48221), and fans will be shuttled to and from Detroit Golf Club. No ticket is required.
