Lights out, game on! YQGgreen Earth Hour Windsor Express Game!

The Windsor Express will be recognizing Earth Hour at its game in partnership with YQGgreen- with pro basketball, music, and entertainment.

Local advocate and YQGgreen founder Elizabeth Elias-Hernandez, says it’s important to do more than talk about improving our planet.

“We have a great community and many businesses and organizations are taking small steps that lead to big changes when it comes to doing more than just talking about greener initiatives,” she says.

OnSo on March 21st, YQG Green is partnering with Windsor Express to work together to expand the message that we can challenge Windsor Essex residents to join the millions of people around the world to spend 60 minutes doing something – anything – positive for our planet.

Dartis Willis, Windsor Express President & CEO agrees.

“Windsor Express recognizes the importance of partnering with local businesses and providing awareness in their sustainable practices for the betterment of the Windsor-Essex community.”

YQGgreen community partners’ booths will be set up before and during the game at the WFCU Centre to learn more about all the sustainability options available for home or business.

Danielle Breault Stuebing, Director, Communications & Outreach for Essex Region Conservation, says this type of collaboration is how change is made long-term.

“The Essex Region Conservation Authority is so grateful to the Windsor Express and YQG Green for its support of local conservation efforts with a donation. Promoting Earth Hour at the March 21 basketball game and providing space for local environmental organizations to share their message of conservation is an important and exciting way to engage the community and promote sustainability. Every day, in every way, we can all make a difference.”

For each ticket sold on the link below $6 will be donated to ERCA

YQGgreen was created in 2021 to welcome everyone from the Windsor-Essex Community and soon after was featured in the City of Windsor Virtual Earth Day Hour celebration.

The idea for a Green Networking Group started by Elizabeth Elias-Hernandez when she hosted her first annual CPC Earth Day Open House in 2017 with Contents Processing Centre.

YQGgreen’s Vision is to work together to be THE resource for a greener, more sustainable, and more vibrant Windsor-Essex!

YQGgreen is a group of small business owners, social enterprises, nonprofits and community-based organizations that want to make a difference by promoting environmentally and socially sustainable practices.
