2018 Border Series Recap Canada vs. United States

Buffalo, N.Y./Port Colborne, Ont. – In front of 1,250 fans, Canada’s National Sledge Team shut out the United States 3-0 to earn a series split in its final tune-up ahead of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games on Saturday night in Port Colborne, Ont.

  • It only took Canada 34 seconds to get on the board on a goal from Tyler McGregor (Forest, Ont.). Steve Arsenault (Spruce Grove, Alta.) and (Ben Delaney (Ottawa) added the other markers for Canada.
  • Rob Armstrong (Erin, Ont.) and Liam Hickey (St. John’s, N.L.) chipped in two assists each in the win.
  • Corbin Watson (Kingsville, Ont.) earned the shutout with eight saves.

“It is a challenge, but this year with Zac Bierk has been a great change for us. He’s been giving us lots of tips and help on the back end, and throughout the game just keeping my mind focused, helping out the guys when I can and getting my stick on a puck keeps me in the game so that no matter what comes my way, I can keep the puck out.” – Corbin Watson on staying focused and confident when not facing a lot of shots
